Car Parks for Commuters program
The Victorian Government is making it easier for commuters to catch the train by building and upgrading car parks at train stations across the state.
Over 11,000 new and upgraded car parks will be added across the network. This will free up local streets, make it easier to catch the train and generate jobs across Victoria.
This adds to almost 10,000 new and upgraded car parks delivered across the state since 2014.
The Car Parks for Commuters program also delivers improved accessibility, CCTV and lighting as well as more bicycle parking facilities at key locations, making it easier to ride or walk to catch the train.
The Department of Transport and Planning is leading this program on behalf of the Victorian Government. Some sites will be delivered in partnership with the Australian Government through its Urban Congestion Fund.
Delivery and construction of car parks is being supported by VicTrack, Rail Projects Victoria, the Level Crossing Removal Project and local councils.
Construction and development work on several sites has started, with site assessments, environmental studies and safety investigations under way.
